Trained in Marriage and Family Therapy (MA, Bethel Seminary), I provide counseling and therapy services for Couples, Individual’s, and Families facing a variety of life experiences and concerns.  I hold an LMFT license to practice in the state of Minnesota (State of Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy).

I am also a Qualified Administrator (QA) of the IDI (Intercultural Developmental Inventory) and can provide consultation and counseling for growth in intercultural competency and awareness building.  In addition, I am trained in DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy) and taught in a DBT program from 2016-2022.  Contact APS for group DBT offerings.

APPROACH

I am a practitioner of family systems theory and attachment approaches.  This means that in addition to assessment, diagnoses, and treatment I take seriously the intergenerational narrative of each client.  This story can help provide the foundation for our work together as individual and family strengths and challenges are identified and pathways for health and healing are discovered.  It is important to note that I do not believe our “inherited” narrative is our destiny but is an effective way to recognize important patterns and attachment injuries that may be keeping us stuck or stagnant.  As noted above, DBT skills are also incorporated into therapy as practical skills to address some symptoms and situations.

Practically, I work with clients to help them better understand their emotions, behaviors, and struggles such that they can make more informed decisions about changes they would like to make.  I help to provide the safe and stable context necessary to make these changes.
